School of Medicine IT performs moves of all desktop computing equipment including PCs, monitors, docking stations, printers, and desktop scanners. 

To request relocation support, please submit a Service Request at least fifteen (15) days prior to the actual move date. Submit Service Request by logging into MyHIT and using the "Request Desktop PC / Phone Service" option. 

Include the following information in the “Details of your Request” field: 

  • Designated Point of Contact
  • Desired date of move
  • Current location
  • New location
  • Equipment to be moved: 
    • # of devices to be moved 
    • Types of equipment to be moved (monitors, laptops, etc.)
    • Confirm if the devices are academic or HSC 

Before the Move
Once assigned, a SOM IT Technician will work with the Designated Point of Contact to determine if a walkthrough of the old space and new space is needed. A walkthrough may be necessary to detail where the equipment will be moved within the new space and to determine if a network jack activation is needed.

The Technician will handle coordination of any network jack activations. Please be advised that these can take about two (2) weeks to complete. 

Physical Move
The SOM IT Technician will work with the Designated Point of Contact on the actual move. Note that the duration of a move depends upon jack activation and the amount of equipment to be moved.
