Dell Data Protection Encryption (DDPE) USB device password reset

HIT Security assists with the recovery of passwords on USB devices encrypted with DDPE.

To use USB Flash/Jump devices on computers within the Medical Center network, Dell Data Protection Encryption (DDPE) must be first installed so that confidential information such as PHI can be protected.  One step in the installation process requires you to set up a local password that will allow full access to the device.  Failure to set up the password will result in ‘read only’ access granted.

If the password is forgotten and needs to be reset, please contact the Helpdesk. Once HealthIT Security receives the DDPE displayed reset code, a reset code will be sent back which will enable the password to be reset to a new password.

Please be advised that if the requestor of the password reset is different from the originator then supervisor approval will be required before the password can be reset.
