Name: Kate Bakich

Short Bio: Kate is an Administrator in HIT who has been responsible for oversight of the Epic training program since fall 2017. Setting her sights on tackling the challenges that providers face with our Epic EMR, Kate has identified other organizations that have exceptional clinician satisfaction with their EMRs, examined their successful models for provider training, and brought the concepts to UVa to benefit our clinicians. Kate’s other responsibilities in HIT include oversight of testing, change management, process improvement, and helpdesk services. Kate has managed IT teams for the past twenty years, most recently on the academic side of UVA for 7 years. Kate has a Master’s Degree in Management of Information Technology from UVa’s McIntire School of Commerce, and a Bachelor’s in History and Economics from James Madison University. When away from work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, running, cooking, baking, and reading.
Name: Cynthia Beebe
Short Bio: Cynthia Beebe was an Epic Ambulatory Analyst in 2009 and became a Principal Trainer during that time, she moved into the Epic Training Manager role in 2011. She helps to oversee the creation of the Epic training environments, the educational material used to train new and current health system team members, and to assist with training projects. Cynthia and the training team are always looking at improved avenues to train the health system staff
Name: Maura Green
Position: Project Management Specialist, Associate
Short Bio: Maura graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts. She has worked with UVA Health for 5 years. Over the course of her time with UVA she has worked in roles from Human Resources to IT, most recently focusing her experience in Project Management. As part of the SmartChart team, Maura partners with the program administrator, Kate, to promote the importance of physician job satisfaction relative to Epic Efficiency. Working with the SmartChart project has proven to be a rewarding experience considering the positive impact our trainers have had on physicians experience with the Electronic Medical Record System.
Name: Andrea Pike
Position: Training Coordinator
Short Bio: Andrea has worked with UVA Health for 3 years. She was hired as a Project Coordinator for the Epic Phase 2 Project, where she primarily focused on coordinating the training program for all health system team members. Since the Epic Phase 2 Go-Live, her role has expanded & allowed her to work on multiple training projects. As part of the SmartChart team, Andrea assists to keep the project on track & works diligently to provide status updates & data outcomes. Andrea enjoys working with the training team because of how rewarding it is to be a part of a team who guides the organization to success.

Name: Justin Bryant
Position: Epic Physician Trainer

Short Bio: Justin is a Physician Trainer who has worked with UVA LIP’s for 5 years. Knowing that Epic can be very frustrating at times, it is his passion to try and allow Epic to become something that is seen as a companion to patient care instead of a barrier. Justin’s other responsibilities involve creating and maintaining the Epic training environment, working on to teach about the Epic Upgrades, and training new physicians as they become part of our team. Justin has a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration and a minor in business from James Madison University.

Short Bio: Dylan is an Epic consultant who has been implementing, supporting and optimizing Epic since June 2012 for an extensive list of healthcare organizations across the country. He looks forward to bringing the concepts he’s learned over the years to UVA and incorporating them to best meet the needs of clinicians throughout the system.
Name: Joanna McHugh
Short Bio: Joanna Mchugh is a Physician Trainer that specializes in helping providers become more efficient utilizing the Epic systems. In her 9 years’ experience she has assisted over 30 different Hospital systems with various stages of implementations including Classroom training, personalization labs, go live support and post training support. During her travels around the country she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children learning the history of each state. Her Moto: Live Laugh Love
Name: Elizabeth Strickland
Short Bio: Liz Strickland has spent the last 8 years at UVA teaching physicians how to use Epic. She has been with SmartChart from the start and helped design the program. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career. She and her husband have 7 adult children and 9 grandchildren. The oldest grandchildren are 6-year-old twins who won the Gerber Baby Contest when they were 9 months old. They were chosen out of 156,000 entries and were the first twins ever selected to be Gerber Babies.
